Camp
Leakey Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre was founded in 1971 as
the first place in Indonesia to become a rehabilitation centre for
orangutans. There are now three orangutan rehabilitation locations,
Tanjung Harapan, Pondok Tanggui, and Camp Leakey. Tanjung
Puting National Park at Central Kalimantan Indonesia Borneo
Island is
the location for semi-wild and wild orangutans in the middle of the
prime Rain Forest. Tanjung Puting National
Park Flora and Fauna is an ecological wealth, from coast
featured mangroves swamps, and low-land rain forest, to dense jungle. The wild life is exotic,
orangutan, only found at Sumatra and Borneo, along with the endemic
proboscis monkeys, and other forest denizens including clouded leopard,
leaf monkey, macaque, pangolin anteater, tiny tarsier, lizards,
crocodiles, pythons and more then 600 bird spieces as the most famous
Sun Birds, pheasants, Kakatua, and Hornbills.
ORANGUTAN & CAMP
LEAKEY EXPERIENCE
Tour Package Duration 03 Days / 02 Nights
Day 01: PANGKALANBUN, CAMP LEAKY (D)
Upon arrival at Iskandar Airport of Pangkalanbun, meeting service and
transfer to Kumai to board motorboat cruising up Sekonyer River. Along
the river you can enjoy the beautiful flora & fauna, like
birds, monkeys, gibbons, and other wonderful creatures of Borneo.
Day 02: PONDOK TANGGUI, CAMP LEAKY (BLD)
After breakfast leave the lodge to visit Pondok Tanggui, an Orang Utan
Rehabilitation Centre up Sekonyer River, then proceed to Camp Leakey,
research and rehabilitation centre of the Orang Utan. Trekking through
the tropical rainforest searching for the wildlife and the exotic
tropical flora, afterwards return to Klotok Boat or Rimba Lodge for
dinner and overnight.
Day 03: PANGKALANBUN (B)
After breakfast cruise Sekonyer River to Pangkalanbun for transfer to
the airport where you can find your onward flight.

Day 01: PANGKALANBUN,KUMAI,CAMP LEAKY (D)
Upon arrival at Iskandar Airport of Pangkalanbun, meeting service and
transfer to Kumai to board motorboat cruising up Sekonyer River. Along
the river you can enjoy the beautiful flora & fauna, like

breakfast visit Pondok Tanggui, an Orang Utan
Rehabilitation Centre up Sekonyer River, then proceed to Camp Leakey,
research and rehabilitation centre of the Orang Utan. Trekking through
the tropical rainforest searching for the wildlife and the exotic
tropical flora, afterwards return to Klotok Boat or Rimba Lodge for
dinner and overnight.

03: CAMP LEAKEY (BLD)
Breakfast
at Rimba Lodge/Klotok
Boat, trekking in the jungle to explore more of the
Kalimantan tropical rainforest, Meals and overnight at Klotok
boat.

04: CAMP LEAKEY, PANGKALANBUN (B)
After
breakfast, free program until departure by
boat downstream Sekonyer River to Kumai and Pangkalanbun airport for
your onward flight.

Day 01: PANGKALANBUN, KUMAI, TANJUNG PUTING (LD)
Upon Arrival at Pangkalanbun, Direct boarding the Boat to enjoy the
river Watching Sekonyer Riverside with different vegetation of
ecosystem. You may see some group of macaqa and proboscis at the trees.
Lunch Dinner and sleep on the boat
Day 02: CAMP LEAKEY, PONDOK TANGGUI ORANGUTAN REHABILITATION (BLD)
After breakfast you will get to Pondok Tangui, the first orangutan
feeding site. Keep explore the original Deep Bornean River with their
Black Water in the trip to go to Camp Leakey, the famous orangutan
research site establish from 1971.Overnight on the boat.
Day 03: TANJUNG PUTING TRAIL TREK, CAMPING (BLD)
After Breakfast, get ready for 9 km long of trails into the truly wild
Kalimantan low land forest seing an old giant trees Build a
tent at a nice little platform to enjoy the evening forest.
Day 04: PESALAT PLANTATION, TANJUNG HARAPAN (BLD)
After Breakfast, visiting Pesalat Replantation Conservation Education
Site of Tanjung Puting National Park. Afterwards to Tanjung Harapan for
sighseeing at the village.Overnight at Homestay.
Day 05: TANJUNG HARAPAN, PANGKALANBUN AIRPORT (B)
After Breakfast, by boat to Kumai for transit to Pangkalanbun Airport
and flight to your next destination.

After Breakfast, continue full day trekking through the Low Land Rain
Forest of Kalimantan. At afternoon Build a tent at a nice little
platform to enjoy the evening forest.
Day 05: PESALAT PLANTATION, TANJUNG HARAPAN (BLD)

Orangutans
are large
apes which can be found at the islands Borneo and
Sumatra. These large apes swing from tree to tree by using their arms (brachiating).
Orangutan in Malay language means "human of the forest". The
Orangutan 's population is
decreasing and is in grave danger of extinction. The Expected
population is less then 40.000 in the world.
Early 2009 a rare subspecies of the orangutan is found in the area of
Karst East
Kalimantan, this subspecies of Orangutan has black fur as a gorilla. .....read
