Samboja Lestari Orangutan Rehabilitation Center

Sungai Wain, which is the location of the Orangutan Rehabilitation Center for the Samboja Lestari Project in East Kalimantan, began as the "Wanariset" reforestation initiative in the early 1990s. This project was established within the Bukit Suharto Forest, a region that is approximately an hour drive from both Balipapan and Samarinda, which are the main gateway into East Kalimantan. Samboja Lestari reserve features a jungle lodge that welcomes tourists and houses both an Orangutan and a Sun Bear Rehabilitation Center located in the Sungai Wain area. Additionally, this project is an integral part of the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation, known as BOSF.
