
Long Lunuk Data Dawai airstrip
Long Lunuk is a small village that consists of a few Dayak families, situated near the airstrip of Data Dawai airport, located upstream along the Mahakam River, beyond the river rapids, and it is a remote and isolated region. The area is home to approximately 5,000 Dayak people who continue to live according to their traditional way of life, which includes practicing dry-field agriculture known as ladang and engaging in hunting activities. The surroundings are dominated by dense rainforests and are dotted with several mountains. This place remains completely untouched by tourism and has not been explored by outsiders, making it a destination only for those with a strong sense of adventure and the patience to embrace the challenges of such an untouched environment.
