Orangutan Tour at Kutai National Park
Indonesia
Borneo
Island with a wealth of ecological and cultural treasures that
survive deep within the rainforest jungle of Indonesia ’s
largest island. Orangutans can be found at Two Islands in
Indonesia, at
Sumatra and Kalimantan. The word orangutan means
"human of the forest" in the Malay language. As its habitats are being
usurped by humans, the orangutan's population is decreasing and it is
ingrave danger of extinction. Some information says the population is
less then 20.000 in the world. Borneo. Several National Parks at
Kalimantan where Orangutans can be spot
“easily”. Tanjung Puting National Park, at Central
Kalimantan, here you can find them around Camp Leakey Rehabilitation
Centre, and the most easily to spot place, as they are common with
humans, feeding could be done. This is different with the 200.000
Hectare Kutai National Park on the east coast of Indonesia East
Kalimantan province, where Orangutans live much more wild in their
habitat, with some assistance of rangers and guides, mostly
the Orangutan can be seen in their natural habitat of rare tropical
flora and fauna. Several other species of animals exist in this Kutai
national park, such as chimpanzees (Pongopygmacus), Pekantan Monkeys
(Nasalisvatus), honey bear, deer, Kalimantan rhinos, crocodiles and at
least 300 bird species. The forests in the area were declared a nature
reserve by the Sultan of Kutai, A.M. Parikesit in 1936, covering
306,000 hectares of land.Teluk
Kaba as a part of Kutai National Park is small bay lying between the
cities Bontang and Sangata, reachable in 45 minutes by speedboat
from Bontang. The forest at Kaba Bay is inhabited by groups of
chimpanzees. The sea gardens in the waters of Kaba Bay are also very
alluring. There are various colored corals and decorative fishes living
in the bluish-green water. Settlements of Bajau people are found around
the coastal forests of Kaba Bay, in Bontang Koala, with houses that are
built over the sea.Kalimantan
’s dense jungle and wide terrain of wetlands have
traditionally kept the region isolated from all but the adventurous
travelers, and along the upper reaches of the rivers, beside
the flora and fauna you can also discover the rich Dayak Culture. The
indigenous Dayak settlements along the Rivers of Kalimantan is
an ideal way to experience the incredible culture, where village elders
practice traditional medicine and mark their status with intricate body
tattoos and remarkably heavy ear adornments, we will be warmly
welcomed guests in their traditional longhouses. At Borneo
you can enjoy a sightful experience of traditional culture and
grand diversity of exotic flora and wildlife from black orchids to
fresh water dolphins and orangutans, and venture ashore for captivating
jungle explorations and unforgettable encounters in our village visits.
Join us for a once-in-a-lifetime exploration of the Kalimantan Island!
