The Sekonyer River flows from Pangkalanbun city into Tanjung Puting Park, which is famous for its rich natural reserve where diverse wildlife is found in the lowland and swampy forest areas.
This Tanjung Puting reserve jungle is home to several types of primates, including orangutans, gibbons, macaques, and leaf monkeys. Additionally, the area is known for its Borneo endemic proboscis monkeys, as well as other primate species.
Tanjung Puting National Park is also a habitat for a wide variety of bird species. In the southern part of the park, which is a coastal region facing the Java Sea, you can find the Dugong, a type of sea cow, as well as the rare green turtles.
